7 Days Tanzania Southern Safari Circuit
7 Days Tanzania Southern Safari Circuit : Because it is well-known and widely publicized, most travelers who consider doing a safari in Tanzania focus on the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and generally the northern circuit of Tanzania. However, Tanzania’s southern circuit has a lot to offer and may also be less expensive than the northern circuit, which is very pricey and popular with tourists. You can choose to go to the Selous Wildlife Reserve, which is the largest wildlife reserve in Africa, or you can visit the largest national park in Tanzania and the second largest in all of Africa on this circuit.
Additionally, Mikumi National Park is the closest national park to Dar es Salaam (7 hours’ drive) and offers enough to see. It is open all year. For the greatest Tanzania safari at a reasonable price, combine Mikumi National Park with Udzungwa Mountain National Park if you enjoy hiking. The advantage of this is that you can combine the entire southern circuit safari in just 8 days.
7-DAY SOUTHERN TANZANIA SAFARI HIGHLIGHTS
Experience safari in southern Tanzanian locations such as the Selous Game Reserve, Mikumi, and Udzungwa Mountains National Parks for 7 days and 6 nights. There will be boat tours, walking safaris, wildlife viewing safaris, and guided trek tours among the available activities. Depending on the size of the group, there can be one to five people per vehicle (big parties will be split into five people per vehicle), and pick-up can be arranged from either Dar es Salaam or Morogoro town.
DETAILED ITINERARY: 7 DAY TANZANIA SOUTHERN SAFARI CIRCUIT
Day 1: DAR ES SALAAM TO SELOUS GAME RESERVE
You’ll be picked up at the airport or at your Dar hotel and transported to Selous. You will eat lunch when you get there, then embark on a boat safari in the evening. Dinner and a camping trip at the Selous River Camp
The boat safaris are conducted in sturdily constructed metal boats with a strong outboard motor on the back and a canopy over the cockpit. Each boat safari is led by a boatman who has lived his entire life on the river and is intimately familiar with all the narrow passageways that boats may navigate. Having spent so many years successfully escorting people between crocodiles and hippos, they are also quite familiar with their behavior. In addition to getting up close and personal with the hippos and crocs that swarm through the river system, whether they are wallowing in the water or lounging on the banks, the boat safaris offer some of the best water birding in Africa.
Selous River Camp is a lodging option in the Selous Game Reserve. Tanzania’s Selous Game Reserve is bordered by the modest, award-winning Selous River Camp safari resort, which is tucked away in a forest high above the Rufiji River. The lodge, which provides cozy lodging and a variety of safaris, is renowned for its attentive service, enchanted ambiance, and, of course, the breathtaking view of the river with its numerous hippos and crocodiles.
DAY 2 TO DAY 3: FULL-DAY GAME DRIVE IN SELOUS
You’ll set out early on this day with a packed breakfast and a picnic lunch to enjoy a full day of wildlife viewing in this enormous African game reserve. Each safari will visit a different part of the park, allowing you to see various types of vegetation and the wildlife those habitats sustain. The Selous River Camp for dinner and the night.
DAY 4: GAME DRIVE EN-ROUTE TO MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
On this day, you will travel to Mikumi via Kisaki village as part of your game drive. If you reach Mikumi before dusk, you might embark on a sunset wildlife drive; otherwise, you might just proceed to your hotel for supper and an overnight stay inside the park.
DAY 5: MORNING GAME DRIVE IN MIKUMI NATIONAL, THEN DRIVE TO RUAHA
You will go on a morning game drive from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by breakfast at about 8:00 a.m. The subsequent drive to Ruaha National Park could take up to seven hours. In the evening, arrive in Ruaha National Park and check into your lodging in preparation for the following day’s full-day game drive.
DAY 6 FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
Before breakfast, the day will start with an early morning game drive that will commence at the crack of dawn. After stopping for a picnic lunch in the woods, continue wildlife viewing until dusk. Take pleasure in your meal and stay the night at the government Bandas.
When compared to other parks in Tanzania’s southern tourism circuit, Ruaha nevertheless has a relatively diverse population of animals, especially cats. The habitat of lions, leopards, and cheetahs is in Ruaha. But there are also other interesting animals in this park, such as endangered wild dogs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes. Other creatures and sights to look forward to seeing include, but are not limited to, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, elephants, hippos, many species of birds, flora, and reptiles.
