Swamps, open grasslands, riverine forests, Miombo woodlands with spectacular baobab and acacia trees, as well as doum- and borassus palms up to 30 meters high, may all be found in Nyerere National Park. Mango trees can also be found in well-watered areas. The Rufiji River creates a maze of islands, sandbars, and lagoons with its numerous side branches and enormous lakes. Hippos are wallowing in the murky river, and crocodiles are sunbathing on their banks.
MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
The fifth-largest national park in Tanzania, Mikumi, is situated 286 kilometers from Dar es Salaam. Elephants, buffaloes, and zebras are migrating to and from the northern half of Mikumi National Park since the area shares an environment with Nyerere National Park. Similar to those of the Serengeti, the grass savannas of the Mkata Floodplains in the park’s northwest host/support A huge population of animals, including buffalo, wild dogs, eland, elephant, giraffe, hartebeest, zebra, leopard, lion, impala, sable antelope, warthog, waterbuck, wildebeest, and greater kudu.

A DETAILED ITINERARY: 4DAYS/3NIGHTS MIKUMI AND NYERERE NATIONAL PARK SAFARI
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi
Drive to Mikumi National Park after breakfast. Lunch will be served en route to Morogoro. As a component of the Selous ecosystem and sandwiched between the Uluguru Mountain to the northeast, the Udzungwa Mountains to the east, and the Rift Valley escarpment to the west, Mikumi enjoys the highest wildlife density of the entire conservation area. Enjoy afternoon game drives in Mikumi until dusk, when you first arrive at the park.
Day 2: Mikumi to Nyerere National Park
In the afternoon, go on a boat safari on the Rufiji River after checking out and driving to Nyerere National Park. Another approach to seeing wildlife on the Rufiji River in the afternoon is via boat safari; this option is only available in few national park such as in Nyerere Park, so it provides a special experience. One of Tanzania’s National Parks’ most spectacular rivers, the Rufiji, is navigable year-round. One of the things that makes Nyerere National Park such a terrific site to visit is the opportunity to get out of the car and see game from a boat.
Day 3: Nyerere National Park, Full Day
Four times the area of the Serengeti, Nyerere National Park is the biggest game park in all of Africa. Hot volcanic springs, intermittent lakes, and channels from the Great Ruaha and Rufiji rivers make up its varied topography.
Africa’s largest park, Nyerere National Park, protects a range of wildlife habitats, including lakes, open grasslands, acacia and miombo woodlands, and riverine forests. The Rufiji River and its tributaries cut through the park’s varied landscape, which includes grassland plains, rocky outcrops, and rolling savannah woodland. The lifeblood of Nyerere National Park are the Kilombero and Luwegu, which together comprise the largest catchment area in East Africa and run from north to south. One of the best ways to see wildlife in the park is to sail or raft along the Rufiji River.
Day 4: Nyerere National Park to Dar es Salaam
Wake up extremely early, then travel to Mtemere Gate after a cup of tea or coffee. It takes two to three hours to walk through the park with an armed ranger at your side; after you reach your pick-up location, you will be taken back to the lodge for breakfast. Short game drives can then be continued until lunch, which is served at the lodge. Check out of the camp and drive back to Dar es Salaam following lunch.
