Materuni Waterfall And Coffee Farm Tour Day Trip

Materuni Waterfall And Coffee Farm Tour Day Trip  : A trip to Materuni Village and Waterfalls is an excellent way to spend a day away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The trek to Materuni Waterfall provides a view into Tanzanian nature, allowing you to either prepare your body for the upcoming Kilimanjaro climb or relax your muscles afterward. Materuni is the Chagga tribe’s home and remains an actual tribal community. This lovely community is only 15 kilometers from Moshi Town, the last village before entering Kilimanjaro National Park.

The Materuni Waterfall Tour begins with a walk around the area near the waterfall, which is rich in Tanzania’s gorgeous natural landscape. It’s a chance to view how native fruits like avocados, mangos, lemons, and bananas grow, as well as learn about the local history, traditions, village economics, agricultural life, and cultural life. When you arrive at the waterfall, you can cool yourself in the natural pool, so bring your swimwear!

TOUR ITINERARY

Our English-speaking guide will pick you up in Moshi/Arusha in the morning and transport you to Materuni Village. When you arrive, you will register at the village office, and your journey will begin.

You’ll start by visiting the waterfalls, which are about a 40-minute walk away. On the trip, your guide will tell you about Chagga culture, village life, and the surrounding fauna and plants. The views are extremely beautiful, and with luck, you will be able to glimpse Kilimanjaro’s summit. When you go to the waterfalls, you’ll notice that they’re more than 80 meters tall. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit because the pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting area for a refreshing swim!

After taking in the beauty, you will gently return to Materuni village with your guide, where you will eat a traditional Chagga meal. You will also have the opportunity to sample our local banana beer, which is not to be missed!

But that’s not all. A coffee experience awaits you next. You’ll learn how coffee is grown, dried, roasted, and processed here. You will also be encouraged to participate in the coffee grinding, which is customarily accompanied by Chagga songs and dances—a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before saying farewell and returning to Moshi in the afternoon, you can savor the coffee you made and take in the views of the surrounding rainforest.

This tour may be arranged from Moshi/ Arusha using both private and public transportation. We prefer private transportation because public transportation is frequently delayed and occasionally overcrowded. The departure can alternatively take place from another location (Arusha, Marangu, Kilimanjaro International Airport, etc.); upon request, we will provide you with the transportation cost.

HOW DIFFICULT IS THE HIKE?

This hike would be classified as easy. The majority of it is (nearly) flat, and the uphill bits are short enough to allow you to breathe in between. Although some of them are quite steep, anyone in good physical shape may accomplish this trek. If you believe you won’t be able to finish it, we can arrange for a motorbike or even a car to take you around 10–15 minutes from the waterfall. The walkways might become muddy and treacherous during or just after the rainy season. We usually recommend wearing good walking shoes, especially during this time of year.
