5 Days Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Calving Season Safari

5 Days Serengeti Wildebeest Migration Calving Season Safari Ndutu migration safari during calving tours, holidays, and travel packages have been specifically created to focus on and maximize your chances of seeing the great Serengeti wildebeest migration.

TOUR OVERVIEW: 5 DAYS SERENGETI WILDEBEEST CALVING SEASON SAFARI

The Southern Serengeti and Ndutu districts of Tanzania are the greatest places to see herds of wildebeest grazing on the abundant short grass plains during the months of January, February, and March. Predator activity is at its highest, with excellent sightings of cheetah, lion, hyena, and leopard, as well as a decent opportunity of witnessing adrenaline-pumping kills.

This 5-Day Great Wildebeest Migration Calving Season Safari package has been especially created to increase your likelihood of witnessing the magnificent Serengeti Wildebeest Migration in the Ndutu Area during the calving season. The Ndutu Area, where the majority of the wildebeest migration is often seen from January to March, is included in this itinerary that we have created. This itinerary has been set up such that you can drive to and from the town of Arusha.

The Migration Calving season typically occurs between the months of January, February, and March each year. After the rains start in January, the herds start moving toward the Serengeti’s south. Many people have inquired as to how the migration herds determine if it is raining or not, and the truth is that we have no idea! Many claim to be able to smell rain, while others think they can feel changes in air pressure. The migration herds always follow where it rains, that much is certain. Over half a million wildebeest are born in a span of two to three weeks, with as many as 8,000 calves being born on a single day!

When we arrive in Serengeti National Park, we’ll focus our game drives in the Ndutu region of the southern plains, which is known for its year-round predator population. The Ndutu area also hosts the spectacular wildebeest and zebra migration every year from December to March. This means you’ll have the unique opportunity to witness a newborn wildebeest take their first steps just minutes after birth. You will also love witnessing predators such as lions and cheetahs in action as they pursue the migrating herds. We’ll then drive toward our accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Serengeti Ndutu Full Day and Overnight At Central Serengeti

The Serengeti’s big attraction is the Great Migration, and the wildebeest here synchronize their births between December and March so that there are too many calves for predators to catch all at once. Thousands of antelopes are born every day during this time of year, and the unexpected surge of easy prey attracts the Serengeti’s big cats: lions, leopards, and cheetahs. We’ll spend the entire day in the park, pausing just for a picnic lunch in the presence of the herds. We will then go to central Serengeti for the night in the late evening.

Breakfast will be served at your lodge as you prepare for your early-morning wildlife drive. You will tour the park’s various regions in central Serengeti and off the usual route, seeking out species that you missed on a previous game drive and admiring the Serengeti’s magnificent terrain. Following your morning game drive, you will eat lunch before embarking on another.
